Do Global Attractors Depend on Boundary Conditions ? 217

چکیده
We consider global attractors of in nite dimensional dynamical systems given by dissipative partial di erential equations u t = u xx + f(x; u; u x ) on the unit interval 0 < x < 1 under separated, linear, dissipative boundary conditions. Global attractors are called orbit equivalent, if there exists a homeomorphism between them which maps orbits to orbits. The global attractor class is the set of all equivalence classes of global attractors arising for dissipative nonlinearities f . We show that the global attractor class does not depend on the choice of boundary conditions. In particular, Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions yield the same global attractor class. The results are based on joint work with Carlos Rocha.

Two-parameter families of strange attractors.
Periodically driven two-dimensional nonlinear oscillators can generate strange attractors that are periodic. These attractors are mapped in a locally 1-1 way to entire families of strange attractors that are indexed by a pair of relatively prime integers (n(1),n(2)), with n(1)>/=1. The integers are introduced by imposing periodic boundary conditions on the entire strange attractor rather than i...

We consider global attractors Af of dissipative parabolic equations ut = uxx + f(x; u; ux) on the unit interval 0 x 1 with Neumann boundary conditions. A permutation f is de ned by the two orderings of the set of (hyperbolic) equilibrium solutions ut 0 according to their respective values at the two boundary points x = 0 and x = 1: We prove that two global attractors, Af and Ag, are globally C0...

We consider global attractors Af of dissipative parabolic equations ut = uxx + f(x, u, ux) on the unit interval 0 ≤ x ≤ 1 with Neumann boundary conditions. We prove that two global attractors, Af and Ag, are glo...
متن کاملSmoothing and Global Attractors for the Zakharov System on the Torus
In this paper we consider the Zakharov system with periodic boundary conditions in dimension one. In the first part of the paper, it is shown that for fixed initial data in a Sobolev space, the difference of the nonlinear and the linear evolution is in a smoother space for all times the solution exists. The smoothing index depends on a parameter distinguishing the resonant and nonresonant cases...
متن کاملGlobal Attractor of the Weakly Damped Wave Equation with Nonlinear Boundary Conditions
In this paper, the main purpose is to study existence of the global attractors for the weakly damped wave equation with nonlinear boundary conditions. To this end, we first show that the existence of a bounded absorbing set by the perturbed energy method. Secondly, we utilize the decomposition of the solution operator to verify the asymptotic compactness.
